Grading
Everything is out of 100%.
| Component | Weight | How |
|---|---|---|
| Quizzes | 48% | Four closed-book quizzes, 16% each; your best three count. Two are held in the mid-semester and end-semester exam slots. If you miss a quiz for any reason, there is no makeup. |
| Assignments | 44% | Four or five group assignments of varying weight (for example 10% or 12%), each with at least one project-like question and each followed by a viva. Some involve making pull requests to public repositories or building Hugging Face Spaces–style demos. |
| Attendance | 8% | Based on the number of absences; see below. |
| Total | 100% |
Assignment marks
Assignments are done in groups of six (preferred) or seven, and all members get the same grade. In the viva, the TAs first check that the code matches the submission (any change is not allowed and earns a warning), run it and ask questions: about 75% on the assignment itself and about 25% on the theory behind it.
| Part | Share |
|---|---|
| Code runs correctly | 50% |
| Understanding | 25% |
| Code quality | 12.5% |
| Theory | 12.5% |
There are no extensions for assignments, and they must be written in Python.
