Grading and every dated event of the 2025 offering in one place. All times are IST. Quizzes are closed book; each assignment is followed by a viva.
Grading
Everything is out of 100 marks, with bonus marks on top.
| Component | Marks | How |
| Quizzes | 54 | Four closed-book quizzes, two in each half of the semester, a mix of multiple-choice and written questions. Your best three count, 18 marks each. No makeup quizzes for any reason: a missed quiz scores zero and is usually the dropped one. |
| Assignments | 40 | Group programming assignments, 10 to 12 marks each, each with at least one project-like question. They may involve pull requests to public repositories and Hugging Face Spaces demos, and each is followed by a viva. |
| Attendance | 6 | Recorded on the biometric system. It is your responsibility to make sure it registers; if it does not, you are marked absent. |

There is no leave system: a missed class counts as an absence, and you do not need to inform the instructor or send a medical certificate. If an emergency makes you miss four or more classes in a row, talk to the instructor about special consideration.
Bonus marks
Up to 1 mark for answering questions in class (0.5 per question, at most two), at the instructor’s discretion. An optional Kaggle competition, if announced, adds a bonus by final standing:

| 75th percentile | 1.5 |
| 90th percentile | 2.0 |
